Some users had run the repair utility (which makes a back up first), so many times that they had 50 GB or more of Outlook backup files, and they ran out of disk space. If I remember right, it usually happened when the user was upgraded to a new computer and we used Migration Assistant to move the files to a new computer. The thought at the time was that the file was damaged, and we would run the Outlook repair database utility:Ģ - Hold to long press the Option key and start Outlook 2011 application or open the Application Folder after that click on Microsoft Office 2011 Folder then Double click on Microsoft Database Utility app.ģ - Select the Database and click on Rebuild.
That being said, I vaguely remember having that issue with 2011 Outlook about 5 years ago. I agree, upgrade to a new version of Office, yours is way to old.
If it's anything at all current, then Office 365 should be used - effectively, version 16.4x (currently 16.42) - the "2019" version so to speak (which means the current release of the "2016" version *very* roughly speaking), which was first released for macOS five years ago now.

What version of Mac OS is being used ? Hopefully nothing older than 10.13 (at the very oldest, with a plan to upgrade soon). Outlook 2011 is ancient and should no longer be used, honestly at all.

Moving emails to an Archive (.olm) so that the mailbox is smaller I can't see any reason why Outlook feels the need to try and re-download every single email again, so if this was fixed then I suppose Outlook wouldn't keep crashing.ĭeleting the profile and then adding it back in When it's set to only download headers for all folders, it doesn't crash, but emails then take an age to view, and they're not patient enough for that The only fix I've found for this was to make it download headers only for all emails (usually this is on but excludes the inbox).
It usually gets to around 400-450 downloaded, then Outlook hangs and crashes. The mailbox itself will be working absolutely fine, then one day when outlook is opened it randomly says at the bottom that it's downloading all the emails again (think he has around 1500 emails in his inbox). He uses an IMAP account and every 7-10 days it tries re-downloading all the emails again. I have a client who uses Outlook 2011 on a MacBook.
